Evergreens by Amber Byrne Mahoney

We’ll admit, we’ve always had a bit of a girl crush on Sara Hiromi. She’s often the muse of an array of photographers we follow and admire, and her incredibly unique face graces our instagram feed every now and again. Second girl crush: Amber Byrne Mahoney. A couple of months ago we spotted her series of India Salvor Menuez in the latest issue of Betty Magazine and fell in love. Sara and Amber came together on a chilly gray to shoot an intimate, personal series for Zeum titled Evergreens; a term coined by the Germans to describe songs that never grow old. “Sara and I emailed back and forth for a few years before finally meeting in Brooklyn. She’s from Texas, I live in NY, and we were never able to quite link up our schedules. We finally made it work at the end of August and spent an overcast afternoon wandering around hidden spots in the Gardens and talking to plants until they closed and kicked us out. The images convey a sense of autumn on the cusp.”
