Last Thursday we attended Ideal Fashion Show, a charity event held at Casa Loma supporting the SickKids-Caribbean Pediatric Blood Disorder and Cancer fund. Led by Ruth Rumack and Julia Thompson, the committee who organized the event was made up of Bishop Strachan School students from grades 10-12 and the show featured three well-established Canadian designers, Narces, Malorie Urbanovitch and Arthur Mendonca. Upholding a 7-year tradition of organizing a fashion show, the students support a different cause each year. “This show is more than just fashion and art; it is a way for our students to make a difference in the lives of others and to learn about philanthropy. It is a show representing an array of different artists from all over the world.”
Before making our way to our seats to watch the runway event (which took place under shimmering chandeliers that projected rainbow streaks of light across the crowd), we grabbed a few photos of some gorgeous Spot 6 models wearing designs by our personal favourite designer of the evening – Malorie Urbanovitch. The quality of line, strong dark tones and gorgeous materials that she applied were quite charmingly accented by the recurring presence of kilt pins – as they adorned varying pieces and accessories within her collection. That evening we also instantly recognized the stunning Jessica M. who makes an appearance in Zeum’s 7th print issue in an editorial with Toronto based photographer Shelby Fenlon.

On Saturday we put together an editorial for Zeum‘s upcoming Fall/Winter’14 print issue. One of our editors, Lauren, happened to be in NYC the week prior and met with two Pratt Institute graduates, Aza Ziegler & Caroline Kaufman, to bring back our favourite pieces from their recent graduate collections for our shoot. The designers were just as wonderful and quirky in person as their collections are, and the day of our shoot we couldn’t be more pleased to have equally as amazing and down-to-earth models from Elite to wear their garments. Here’s a sneak peek into our day with models Leigh and Lina!
