Veiled in shades of orange and yellow, dipped in sweet sunlight, and encompassed by delicate fields of blooming poppies; David Swailes captures an unfathomably tender scene. Playing homage to photographer David Hamilton and this 1970’s glamour era, Swailes has endeavoured to express this influence through the use of analogue equipment and in-camera filters. “Through my images I like to convey a sense of permanence and timelessness, and I think the whole physical process of working with analogue cameras + from a single negative that is the record of a specific moment in time comes across as more genuine to the viewer.” There is something quite definitive about David Swailes; its alluring, otherworldly, and romantic; and we cannot help to fall in love.
